Some may say it isn't canon, but they basically are just salty they never got to play it or something so yeah. The game had the best hitboxes and combat system in the series and definitely had the greatest fights out there with the best music to boot.Īlso, it is canon as implied by the devs and seems to follow the other side of the spectrum of Worldborne and Rise, where The newer mainline games follow the guild's discovery of the New World, Frontier follows what continues on in the old world and the frontier continent where monsters all travel when they get old and become veteran fighters, sometimes being the best among the other species in their line (Zenith and Hardcore monsters). Do be careful though since some people like the youtube channel RGV spread misinformation and unexperienced opinions as fact which spreads a lot of hate/ignorance regarding frontier despite its role in shaping Monster Hunter as a series.
Point is, the main series would probably be very different without frontier so it's sad that it shut down and is unplayable. Some new monsters like Magnamalo and Raging Brachydios in the newer games also have their movesets based on frontier monster moves, while frontier also gave us an INSANE amount of new mechanics to also add into the mainline games like 4-party Sieges, one shots with things to hide behind, Relic weapons, monster mechanics, and many other things that would be impossible to list in one go. It had the best combat system and music in the series while also having crazy unique mechanics and monsters. Monster Hunter: World introduces a living, breathing ecosystem in which players take on the role of a hunter that slays beasts in heart-pounding battles.
